About the Partnership

Over 30 scholars from 23 different countries came together for the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Trust at Oxford University, creating a powerful, lasting bond that transcended borders. Through this challenge, lifelong friendships were formed, and a true sense of global collaboration and unity was sparked.

The Challenge

  • The challenge was to break down barriers and elevate the sense of closeness among participants - 30 scholars from 23 different backgrounds, in the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Trust (WHT).
  • The Wellbeing Challenge created a platform for collaboration, learning about each other’s cultures, and embracing the Oxford spirit of unity.
  • It aimed to create an atmosphere where individuals from all walks of life could connect, learn from each other, and engage in a collective journey to fully enrich their academic experience.

The Solution

  • Participants “travelled” through a virtual map connecting 23 countries. This global adventure went across continents—from Latin America to Africa, Asia, Europe, and back to the UK—bringing scholars together in a vibrant, collaborative spirit.
  • More than just a competition, this project elevated the participants’ sense of connection and belonging. The experience was enriched with content about each country, featuring stories and cultural insights that deepened appreciation for each other’s heritage.
  • Weekly challenges, infused with wellness and mental health insights from WHT Trust members, helped bond participants in new ways, reinforcing the importance of self-care and team spirit.

The Results

The WHT Wellbeing Challenge didn’t just succeed—it elevated the entire Oxford experience for everyone involved:
  • It inspired deep, genuine collaboration, weaving a network of scholars who not only worked together but became life-long friends.
  • A stronger sense of cultural exchange grew, making every participant more aware of the world and their place in it.
  • It boosted camaraderie between colleges, igniting competitive spirit and pride within each team.
  • Real, personal connections flourished through hybrid events, creating the perfect balance between virtual and in-person engagement.
